We're In!

It's been awhile, but we have been very busy moving, unpacking, painting, and spending some wonderful time with family!

On June 23rd we spent our 2nd Anniversary in our 4th night in our new home! It was so special! We decided to take the day off and slept in and then went to dinner that night at Morton's Steakhouse in Dallas. It's in the basement of an office building right across from Dealy Plaza. This is the same wonderful restaurant we went to in San Antonio last year. The service is amazing and the food melts in your mouth! Everyone who came to our table wished us a happy anniversary, and when they brought out desert they brought out a lit sparkler!

We spent the fourth of July with family. Friday night we went to Addison Kaboom town and sat right under some awesome fireworks. Saturday we had dinner and went swimming with my family and then went with our niece and nephews to watch the fireworks...They were so excited to see all the different colors!

We are almost done unpacking...The only room that's completely done is the kitchen, so I decided to post pictures of it...More to come soon, we're getting close in many ofther rooms.

Short but Sweet

Well, like the title says, this will be short...We closed on our house today! Yea! It was so exciting to got our keys and walk in our new home. It still doesn't feel totally real yet. We're not moving until Saturday, so I think it will feel more real then, when we actually spend our first night there. We have been so blessed and are so thankful for God's provision and blessing which led us to this place! When we walked in we walked around a minute or two, and then took a moment to pray and thank the Lord for all the experiences and memories He has taught us and given us in the past two years, and all that was to come in our new home! Thank you Jesus!

It will probably be a while until my next post...We are both taking next week off to paint and unpack! We will also be celebrating our 2nd anniversary! We will spend our 3rd night in our new home together...We are planning to relax on Tuesday and spend some true quality time together. We decided to return to Morton's again, this time in Dallas though, for dinner to celebrate...I'm sure we won't be dissapointed!

My Top 10

I was feeling a little sentimental during my last post, however, I am super excited about being in our new house...I think it feels a little surreal this week that the house is actually done. It was fun picking everything out, and seeing it go up...I can't believe this will actually be our new home in less than a week!

As I was beginning to pack I started thinking about what I am most excited about...So for fun I thought I'd post a top ten list of the top 10 things I am most excited about with our new house! (They aren't in any particular order...)

1. Our Kitchen...It is probably 3+ times the size of our little galley kitchen in our apartment and has probably 6x the cabinet and pantry space! We will actually get to use some of our wedding presents that we have never used before...haha!
2. Garden Tub in our Master Bathroom...I am looking forward to coming home from a long day and soaking in that!
3. Master Closet...Although we have a large closet for an apartment, It's so big, I can't wait!
4. Backyard...It will be so nice to have a place to relax and hang out!
5. Dining room...We will be restaining our dining room table which was my grandmother's and painting some of our other dining room furniture...I am going to try to crackle faux finish our china cabinet...I'll let you know how it turns out!
6. Guest Bedroom...We can have guests stay with us now! Book early...LOL j/k!
7. New couch and loveseat...We haven't been able to entertain that much b/c our apartment is so small and we only have one couch...Now we can have people over!
8. Painting...We weren't able to paint our apartment, and I am so excited to see how some of our accent walls turn out throughout the house!
9. Location ~ Both Jason and I will only be 10 minutes from work!
10. Using all my creative juices to decorate our new house to make it a HOME! I can't wait to see everything come together!

You're Gonna Miss This...

Well I survived officer camp for another year...I've been in Dallas with my new JV Officers for next years team the past few days...They did well, learned a lot, and I am very proud of them!

We stayed at a wonderful hotel, that I wouldn't mind going back to for a Anniversary, etc...The Hilton Dallas Rockwall...It's right on Lake Ray Hubbard, beautiful, amazing service, and I think would be very relaxing without the craziness and pressure of officer camp! haha!





It was a little crazy last night with all the bad storms in the Metroplex...The tornado sirens went off and we had to wait in a service hallway for about 40 minutes for the worst of the storm to pass...The whole back of the hotel is windows and there was very strong winds coming off the lake...Talk about thanking the Lord for timing...My girls had just finished their evaluation for the night...I am thankful we got it over with so their nerves weren't so affected!

I came home to empty walls...Jason started taking down all our pictures and decorations while I was gone to pack them...It is so crazy to think this time next week we will have closed on our 1st home! I desperately need to get to packing! Although I'm elated to be moving into our new house, I'm a little sad to take everything down leave our apartment...It was our first home together and we have so many wonderful times and memories together here...all of our first holidays together, etc. This has truly been an amazing home for us to make our life together!

I remember our 1st night here together when we came back from our honeymoon...We only had our bed, our luggage, and our wedding gifts which my parents delivered! We sat in the floor and opened gifts! haha!

I think so often we get wrapped up in the future these days we don't take time to appreciate the gifts of today...The next two weeks will mark us closing and moving into our first house as well as our 2nd anniversary! I am so so thankful for the amazing life we've been blessed with this past two years! We've had so many awesome times together from our honeymoon to our first apartment, Christmas, Anniversary, etc. I know that these are days that I will miss and cherish for the rest of my life! :-)

My name is fairly common because although my parent's didn't know this at the time, it was becoming popular right when they chose it for me. It is still very special to me though, because my first name was actually my mother's maiden name, and my middle name sounds somewhat like part of her first name! Someday when we have kids, if we have a little girl, we are going to pass on my first name as her middle name to keep it going!

May Day!

Well it has been a while, and this won't be a long post...but I always feel guilty when I got to read every one's updates, so I thought I'd drop a quick line...

The house is coming along well...almost done! We went through and did the first walk through and they are doing cleaning and touch up work now. They installed the carpet and had a cleaning crew come through. The house looks amazing. I am in awe that we will be living there in 3 weeks!

We haven't started packing, and I am getting more anxious as to how we are going to pull this off each day! I have 3 days of school left, so I am trying to get all my grades in. I'll have the weekend to relax and start packing, and then next week I take my officers to camp for 3 days in Dallas. Our final walk through will be next Friday. We have a dance convention at the school the next weekend, and then we start open studio Monday -Thursday for 2 hours a day, and we close on that Thursday. Whew...prayers would be much appreciated for the next few weeks.

My JV Team had an end of the year celebration last Friday and I enjoyed it so much! I am so proud to see them going on to Varsity! It was very meaningful to hear how much they had enjoyed the year, learned, grown, etc. At the end the girls circled up and said a prayer led by one of my officers, and it was such a sweet joy to hear them lifting up their praises to God! Although my job requires many long hours, and heartache/stress at times, I am thankful for where I am, and in knowing I am where God has called me to be during this season of my life! It is bittersweet to see our seniors on the Varsity team graduate this week! I will miss them dearly!

They put the sod and landscaping in! We now have a back yard!




They also painted our fireplace, installed the mirrors in the bathroom, and put in the shower stall in the master bathroom. Pictures will be coming soon!

I've been doing some shopping trying to find a few things I have my heart set on for our house...Here are a few of my faves...

These came in yesterday and I love them...

Curtains for the Master Bedroom...The outside ones will be black silk, and the inside are an ivory burnout damask sheers


Green Silk Curtains for the Living Room...We already have alot of brown and red there, and wanted to incorporate another color. We are painting the fireplace accent wall chocolate brown, and the dining room accent wall a dark red.


Print for the Shower Curtain for the Secondary Bath...The guest bedroom will be a relaxing spa blue/turquoise and chocolate brown with gold and bronze accents.


We haven't picked this up yet, but we are thinking of this table for the entryway, although I would use the lamps somewhere else...Jason's parents got us the coolest Christmas present ever that we will hang above the table in our entryway, but you'll have to wait to see what that is until we move in and it arrives!


We've picked out this couch and loveseat, that we'll be buying this weekend!

This weekend will be fun but expensive...We're planning on shopping for our couch, loveseat, refrigerator, and lawnmower! We bought our washer and dryer last year on Memorial Day weekend, because it was tax free on energy star appliances and big sales...For those of you out there that are in need of new appliances, it's a good time to buy!

Jason just looked over my shoulder and asked me if I was going to post a picture of a lawnmower on here too...LOL, so just for him...



I asked him what kind of lawnmower and he told me this one...LOL! This is his dream lawn mower. Apparently it goes 17 miles an hour and will mow 9.2 acres per hour! Watch out!...(The only problem is that it runs between $13,000 and $17,000 dollars!)....No, he won't be getting that lawn mower...We have a big back yard, but not that big! He is very excited about being able to do our yard soon though!

I am counting the days until school is out! 9 left...And I am looking forward to a 4 day weekend! Yipee! Hope everyone has a great memorial day and happy shopping!
