Wreck Em Tech! Guns Up!

I am so PUMPED to say the least about the Texas Tech vs. Texas game this week! I keep thinking about it throughout the day and pray everytime we win! We are going with my parents, Mandy, and my aunt & uncle. I am so excited...I know Lubbock will be CRAZY! Especially with ESPN College Gameday coming!

My parents bought Jason and I tickets to fly out Saturday morning this summer as an anniversary present, and I am so thankful!

I remember my senior year in high school we went to the Tech vs. Texas game, and I went to the game and sat in the student section with Mandy and we beat them, and my dad still quotes me on this story, that the first thing I said when I saw them again after the game was, "I'm GGGOOOIIINNGGG to TECH!!!" His reply was "You realize not all games are like this?" LOL!

My dad was actually a Longhorn fan for years, as was my uncle Don. The funny thing is my mom went to Tech and my dad would never cheer for Tech over UT then. I remember gamedays while I was growing up when our home was like a battle zone on gameday once a year (Just Kidding!) I was always a Tech fan...We visited Lubbock many times while I was growing up. I still tease my mom that I didn't have a chance...It's in my blood! There are videos of me when I was about 2 playing on the playground by the Child Development Center next to the College of Human Sciences, where I went to school day in and day out years later. There's pictures of me meeting Spike Dykes, and patting the Masked Rider.



There's the infamous story of the clickers...My family took Mandy and I up to Lubbock for a game and they bought us those small red rectangular clickers (Does anyone know what I'm talking about?) and we clicked them all the way home! (Why they didn't take them away from us, I have no idea!)

When I went to Tech though my dad became a true Texas Tech fan, as did my uncle Don and they began to root for Tech over Texas...Amazing! :-)



We still have one black sheep in the family, my uncle Darius, a die hard longhorn fan. We have a bit of a family rivalry...That is certainly an understatement!

I am so proud of Texas Tech for the season they have had and the ranking! I hope and pray we win this weekend, so we can show the nation how good our team is!

Prayers Appreciated

We got some bad news today. My cousins Jill and Scott had been selected by a birth mother to adopt a baby. They were supposed to be at the hospital anytime this week to be there when the baby was born...They had been anxiously anticipating it. They received word yesterday that the birth mother had the baby and had decided to keep it. Please pray for them during this time. They would make amazing Godly parents and would give any child a home filled with His unconditional love. We know God has a plan for this moment, but right now it is hard to bear. Thanks for your prayers.

My cousins Brent and Autumn had their second little baby boy tonight! Jason and I were still at Tech when our other "niece and nephew" were born, so it was special to be here to celebrate his birth with my family!

October 7th is a special day...5 years ago today my sweet husband asked me to be his girlfriend! We had met through one of my best friends, and been dating for a couple of months.

We went on a date to a Tech Symphony Orchestra performance and then to share hot chocolate at DayBreak Coffee Shop! Sitting outside we talked for a good while and then it went dead silent...hehe! I could tell what was about to happen...Or so I thought/hoped! I don't remember the exact words, but I do remember how sweet and cute he was when he was so nervous!

Another funny note about that night, apparently I was a little apprehensive as well, because I was playing with my necklace and the chain snapped...LOL! Jason still likes to tease me about that.

Anyways, I said yes, and then yes again a few years later :-) and here we are!

Throughout the years we celebrated our dating "anniversary." Each year we went back to Daybreak to share hot chocolate!

One year later, Sophomore year...Jason planned a candlelight picnic in the park and then we danced under the stars to a song he wrote for our first Valentine's Day...I was hooked!

Sadly I don't recall what exactly we did last year, I was in the middle of survival mode during my first year of teaching! I do think we might have gotten some hot chocolate though...

So tonight, I am having dinner with Jason's family and then headed to Starbuck's for some hot chocolate with my sweet husband! It won't be the same as Daybreak, but a close second!

Exciting news on the family front, and HAIR!

My cousin Jill and her husband Scott have been going through the process in adopting a baby. They got a call this week that a birth mother has picked them. They are meeting with her later this week. The baby will be born on October 19th!

Please pray for them and the birth mother and baby...There are still no guarantees it will all go through ok, so pray for the health of the mother and baby, and for Jill and Scott as the patiently wait to find God's will in this situation!

Also, my cousin Brent and his wife Autumn are about to have their second baby...Luke James Cotten is due on October 9th, so please be in prayer for them as well! Below is the cutest Red Raider picture of their oldest son, our "nephew" Jackson who is about to be a big brother!

On another note, I am thinking I need a change with my hair...I'm tired of it being so long. I am notorious for being to preoccupied, busy, lazy to make a hair appointment for months and just letting my hair grow! So I am ready for a change...I am thinking of something similar to this...What do you think?
